Summer is Drawing to an End

As hard as it is to believe, most of us are back to school or soon will be and Summer will officially end in about 21 days!!!
Our series, "LIFE IS A HIGHWAY", is also about to come to an end! We will have our last King's Kidz Klub session, next Wednesday night (Sept. 1st). We have had some very gifted speakers this Summer, exciting video clips about the road of life and also learned a few lovely new worship songs. Indeed, it has been a wonderful Summer!!! We will open our "Route 66 General Store" one last time, on Wednesday, Sept. 8th, with a closing celebration of fun for all!
We plan to have our Kidz Konnect Fall Kick-Off on Wednesday, Sept. 15th, where we will begin a new series entitled, "DEAL WITH IT"...
We also plan to replace our Praise and Worship music with Christmas music for our annual program, this year. Mrs. Mari will be getting speaking parts to some of you very soon and we are trusting God for another wonderful Holiday season here at Southside!!!

On the Road Together this Summer

We are about halfway through our Summer series at King's Kidz Klub and are having a great turn out, thus far! "LIFE IS A HIGHWAY" and we are all about learning the signs of the road! Soon the kids will be able to use their Bible Bucks at the Route 66 General Store for prizes and one BIG prize will be handed out, at the end of the Summer, to the boy and one to the girl who have earned the most Bible Bucks.

So far, along this highway of life we have seen the following signs: "ONE WAY" (Jesus is the ONE WAY to Heaven), "STOP" (How to STOP sin in its tracks), "YIELD" (YIELD to the Holy Spirit's guidance) and "MERGE" (We are to MERGE together in order to work as a team). Mrs. Shelly Penn is playing the part of the Traveling-DJ (Emcee) and Mrs. Tanya Mobley, the part of the Main Driver (Media Director). We have had wonderful devotionals brought to us by (our Co-Drivers): Mrs. Theresa Baker, Mrs. Shelly Penn and Mrs. Kathy Hurst... we look forward to a few 'new faces' in the driver's seat over the upcoming weeks. A few of the signs we will be learning about are: The "CONSTRUCTION ZONE" (Building up our faith), A "DETOUR" sign (Dealing with life's disappointments), OOPS, "WRONG WAY" (My way OR God's way?), "WATCH FOR CHILDREN" (How to be a Godly example) and The "DEAD END" (How to make a spiritual U-turn when we have gone astray)! Thank You to Mrs. Doris Martin, Mr. Rich Miller, Mrs. Mari Fye and Mrs. Amelia Stewart for doing a fabulous job on these most recent devotionals (Y'all made incredible Co-Drivers, too, as well as the ones we had earlier in the Summer)!!!

As you've seen (on your right), this site is always under a bit of construction... and as you've been able to tell, if you attend regularly, this site is not ALL that is under construction around Southside!!! April was an extremely busy month with many Easter, Spring Revival and many other Spring-related activities! We've enjoyed each and everyone, God has blessed us with great numbers, His Spirit has been witnessed in a great way over the past two months and we stand in awe of Him!
We are well into the month of May and ready for an exciting Summer ahead!!! Our annual Church Business Meetings were held last week and there are SEVERAL changes taking place on and around our 'campus'! GOD IS MOVING --- BY HIS SPIRIT --- MOVING IN ALL THE EARTH --- SIGNS AND WONDERS WHEN GOD MOVETH --- MOVE ON LORD ON "ME"!

Be on the lookout for details of these changes coming soon... it's going to be incredible to see what God has in store for us! There will be MAJOR changes taking place in our Kidz Konnect gatherings during the rest of May, which will continue next School Year and even more MAJOR changes in our King's Kidz Klub, during the months of June - August!!!

V.B.S. 2010 at Southside is just around the bend and we are thrilled to announce, the Baker's, as our workers this year! "FIGHTING TO WIN", JUNE 1 -4 (6:30PM nightly), is sure to be a VBS you'll not likely forget anytime soon! We will be in need of ADULTS to help us out with registration, snacks, etc. each evening... please see Shelly Penn for information! CHILDREN: WE WANT YOU TO INVITE YOUR SIBLINGS, COUSINS, FRIENDS, SCHOOL-MATES, NEIGHBORS... you get the picture, we want to have more kids than we have building to contain them!!!

The month of LOVE is upon us... Be sure to remember your Valentine on Valentine's Day! It can be a boyfriend/girlfriend, mommy, daddy, best friend or even your pet... But, do something SWEET for someone in your life on Valentine's Day!
January was a fun and full month! We enjoyed each week at Kidz Konnect! Every 'event' was unique and exciting! We are so very thankful for the many adults in our church family who give of their time, energy and efforts to make Kidz Konnect such a wonderful place!

THIS COMING WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 10, (7p.m.) WE WILL CELEBRATE VALENTINE'S DAY TOGETHER, WITH A BIG PARTY! "Sunflower, the Clown", will be with us and we will have lots of yummy food to eat! YOU WILL NOT WANT TO MISS OUR VALENTINE'S CELEBRATION, "JOY IN YOUR HEART"!!!
This past Wednesday evening, Mrs. Mari and Mrs. Amelia hosted, "A & M Kidz Kreations" and what a time was had by all! After hearing the story of John the Baptist, the children 'created' LOCUSTS, baked them and ATE THEM WITH HONEY! Thanks, Mari and Amelia for such a great evening!!!
Wednesday, February 17th, will be BIBLE MEMORIZATION AND BIBLE CHARADES, with Mrs. Doris, Mr. Rich and Mrs. Cathy! This should be another wonderful evening for the children... knowing the chosen staff of the night, there will likely be treats and prizes, as well! Thanks, in advance, Doris, Rich and Cathy for all your hard work with the children! Not only for this event, but on a weekly basis!!! We love y'all!
Wednesday, February 24th, "Mystery Momentz" will roll around again and you NEVER know exactly what THAT will entail! Mrs. Theresa and Mr. Bob will have something exciting planned and YOU WILL NOT WANT TO MISS OUT!!! Thank you, Baker's, for stepping in and adding something 'new' to our February schedule... The kids are gonna love you both!

The first month of the new year has almost come and gone! Time is slipping by so quickly!!!

The first Wednesday of January we had a Christmas Show-N-Tell. The children brought something in they had received for Christmas and told us about it. This was interesting for the kids, as well as for the adults, to see all the unique items that were brought. Thanks to Mr. Greg and Mrs. Shelly for this event.

The second Wednesday of 2010 was Game Night. We enjoyed a variety of many different games, hot cocoa and cookies. Thanks to Mr. Steve and his helpers for a fun evening.

This past Wednesday was Bible Character Night... which proved to be another great time! The kids could, but did not have to dress in costume, as Mr. David and Mrs. Amelia hosted the event.

This coming Wednesday evening will be Mystery Momentz......... you'll see what happens when you arrive and who will be directing for the night. Believe me, you'll NOT want to miss this one!!!

We had a fun evening making crafts with Mrs. Sally and would like to thank her for 'putting up with all of us girls' last night!!! "Kidz Kraft Night" is always an interesting time!
We're looking forward to next week... "Christmas Show-N-Tell"!!! You may bring anything you received for Christmas and each person will have the same amount of time to show his/her items! Plus, we'll have time set aside for snacks!!!
In a few weeks, we'll also have an "Incredible Illusion" show that you'll not want to miss!

Kidz Konnect is attempting to get back into full swing! With so many Christmas and family things on our calendars, it will probably be January before things really slow down and get back to normal!
However, we had a lovely time, with Mrs. Alberta at Kidz Konnect, last Wednesday night! She has a such special way of telling a story... just makes it come to LIFE!!! We have a great way for you to CELEBRATE Fall, this year!!! Join us... THIS SUNDAY, (Sept. 27th) at 10:00AM, for Jr. (Wee) Worship with Mrs. Doris (also Mrs. Alberta) and staff for a fun filled service! Following the morning service, we are ALL invited to "Sunday Dinner-On-The-Grounds" together! After dinner is completed, we will go to a designated area called "KIDZ ZONE", to the "Construction Site", for an Illusion Show and a Special Guest Appearance. Around 2PM, we will be dismissed outdoors, to the "Building-n-Development Site" and "Snack Site", for MANY more exciting surprises!!! Things like a "Make-n-Take" booth, "Sno-Cone" booth and soooooo much more!!! Praying for SUN and that the weather will not get in the way of SOME of our outdoor surprises, though! This will be one "KIDZ ZONE", where you'll enjoy the work... after all, who doesn't like to have fun 'on the job'??? SEE YA THERE!!!

This is just to remind YOU of a few things that are going on here at Southside Kidz during the month of September!!!
We are in the middle of our annual Christmas Musical preparations, taking place on Wednesday nights, during the regular "Kidz Konnect" hour. WE ARE IN NEED OF EVERY CHILD AND YOUNG ADULT FROM 5 - 19 YEARS OF AGE!!! Without enough people in the cast and commitment for practice sessions, we will NOT be able to pull this Musical off! It has awesome music, great drama and even a few of the characters 'come to life'! YOU WILL ALL WANT TO BE A PART OF SUCH AN INCREDIBLE PROGRAM! Please do not allow the 2009 Christmas Program to be cancelled because of YOU... WE NEED YOU!!!
Also, remember we have a VERY special day planned on Sunday, September 27, 2009! It is REUNION SUNDAY at Southside! Following Wee and Jr. Worship that morning, we will have an ALL-CHURCH Sunday Dinner-On-The-Grounds! You can invite your family, neighbors and friends! There will be a big tent, a special guest... just for YOU kids, a christian illusion show and lots of other SURPRISES that you will love!!! Be there or be square and miss out on all the fun... Back to Kidz Konnect!!! King's Kidz Klub is over for the Summer season and we're moving into our Fall schedule!

Last, week Mrs. Sally helped us with a 'Make-n-Take' craft (AKA: "Kidz Konnect with Krafts"), we watched a portion of a very interesting Missionary-based DVD before it was time for snack and good bye's! This coming week, Mrs. Mari and Mrs. Amelia will help us create an 'edible' snack (AKA: "Kidz Konnect with Kreations), to go along with our Bible story. These are always fun... because who doesn't like a 'creative' snack, right??? The following Wednesday night, September 2nd, Mrs. America and Mr. Aaron will present our first "Brain Boggling with The Bragg's"! This a mystery-type event and no one will know just what's going to happen, until we arrive to have our brains 'BoGgLeD! WE WILL ALSO BEGIN OUR CHRISTMAS PROGRAM PRACTICES ON WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 9TH AND WE NEED YOUR COMMITMENT OR WE WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PRESENT THIS YEARS MUSICAL... PLEASE BE THERE OR BE SQUARE!!!

Kidz Kreations with King's Kidz Klub at Southside

Who would've ever thought that you could BUILD an edible "Campfire"??? WELL!!! Mrs. Mari and Mrs. Amelia taught us just how we could do that this past week. YUMMM and those "Campfires" were tasty, too!

Just to remind you all, "Kidz Kamp at Kamp Kamby" began this week. Because of this, there will be NO KING'S KIDZ KLUB this coming Wednesday night. There will also be NO KING'S KIDZ KLUB on the following Wednesday, August 5th, due to Family Camp at Camp Camby!!! However, we will resume King's Kidz Klub on Wednesday, August 12th...

We Have HIT Mid-Summer with A Bang at Southside

It's the middle of July, which means the Summer is about half over and though that's a little depressing, we're having a great time here at King's Kidz Klub!

Since our last post, we were rained out of our Wacky n Wild Water Night, so we went indoors for a couple of INDOOR water activities. VERY interesting and VERY fun! We will try again in a couple of weeks for our Water Night OUTDOORS... watch and listen for details.

We have had fun times with a variety of Outdoor Games throughout the Summer, including a Scavenger Hunt, which the kids absolutely loved! Mr. Aaron and Mrs. America did a fabulous job and the No-Bake Cookies and Milk were the perfect finale to the night.

Kraft Night is always fun! Last night, Mrs. Sally and Mrs. Theresa helped us make pretty little Summer like Sun-Catchers and they'll be ready to 'pick up' this Sunday Morning (following Jr. Worship)! ***Special thanks go out also, to Mr. Rusty and Mrs. Tanya, for the Popsicles***

This coming Wednesday evening, will be A & M Kidz Kreations (with Mrs. Amelia and Mrs. Mari) and they always come up with exciting surprise 'creations' for us to make! Please plan NOW to attend!!!

WOW! Where Has The Time Gone?

We're not sure how this has happened, but almost a month has already flown by here at Southside! We have been having a tremendous time at King's Kidz Klub this summer... Movie Night, Game Night, Craft Night, etc. We have many more exciting events scheduled for the remaining summer months, as well! There will be Kidz Kreations, Mystery Momentz, etc. THE HIGHLIGHT OF JUNE, will take place this coming Wednesday... Wacky -n- Wild Water Night!!! King's Kidz Klub Kraft Night

"End of School Year - Summer Is Here" Party

Oh Boy! Didn't we have some fun last night? We celebrated BIG TIME, out in God's beautiful sunshine, the glorious fact that School is over and Summer is about to begin!!! Kidz Konnect is over for the season and we're ready to begin NEW things! We had a nice group of children AND adults attend the Party... Thank you to everyone who came to celebrate with us! Our menu was the envy of all those in 'regular' Church, (the Choir, the Teens, the Praise-n-Praise group, the Young Adults, etc.) no question!!! We had PB-n-J Sandwiches, Ham-n-Cheese Sandwiches, Taco Dip-n-Chips, Salsa, Ritz-Pepperoni-Cheese Tray, Chips-n-French Onion Dip, Party Cupcakes, Cookies and Party Pineapple Punch!!! Now, this was a very tasty meal and everybody present ate it up! Mr. Steve and Mr. Rich also had a 'pile' of fun outdoor games for the evening, hence kids and adults alike, were pretty wore out when all was said and done! Again, a special thanks to every single person who took part... with food, games, assisting, etc. This party wouldn't have taken place without YOU!!!

Christian Video Night - Anger is Everywhere - What Wil Jr. Do?

Hey, Kids!!! Did you spoil your Mom on Mother's Day??? What about serving her breakfast in bed??? What kind of card did you buy for her... was it funny or serious??? Isn't Mother's Day a fun day to just 'waste away' with your Mama??? If any of you wish, those who are school-age, can write a small story about your special Day with the special Lady in your Life and turn it in for a possible prize!!!

Well, this past Wednesday night was "Christian Video Night" and we learned how to deal with anger as we watched, "Juniors Giants - Angers Everywhere". (The brownies and milk were a big hit, as well!) How can someone defeat an angry giant when they're only four feet tall? What if that giant is sporting a kilt and a Scottish accent? Junior and his family must find the answers in Juniors Giants, an award-winning new animated video series that promises to make your entire family laugh while exploring relevant issues like anger, greed, and materialism. In "Anger's Everywhere," the first episode of Juniors Giants, Junior wages battle against his temper and an angry giant. Together with the help of his best friend Niko, his parents, and the Word of God, Junior discovers how to defeat the evil giant. Growing up is not always easy, but Jesus can help us AND give us the kind of attitude He wants us to have.
We're looking forward to this Wednesday night... While the adults are in the Annual Church Meeting, Mrs. Doris and Mrs. Shelly will be holding "Bible Story Night" with those attending Kidz Konnect. There will be popcorn and kool-aide to make the evening even more fun! Please invite someone to be there with you. Neither of you will be sorry!!!

Kaleidoscope of Fun/Kidz Kraft Night next week, will be held by Mrs. Mari and everyone is excited to see what she has up her sleeve, (besides the chips-n-dip that's on the menu)!
Remember, our End-of-School Outdoor (weather permitting) Party is on schedule for Wednesday the 27th!!! There will be lots of fun games, yummy food and more. Can YOU believe it's already about time Summer Break??? Well, we only have a little over a month, before our Summer Kidz Klub opens!!! We are anxious to begin the summer and see what God has planned for us here at Southside! We will have similar activities and activities that we have had all Winter, except we'll spend MUCH (99.9% - weather permitting) of our time outside enjoying the beauty of God's creation!!!
May is to begin in less than two days therefore, we decided to add an "Indy 500" background to our Blog here at Southside Kidz... the theme of May is "RACE INTO SOUTHSIDE AND SEE WHAT GOD HAS IN STORE"!
Last week, Mr. Matt and Mrs. Heather, gave us an Italian-flavored evening of fun with many neat facts and information on the country of Italy and ended the event with a taste of Italy, as well! The Pizza Bites and Drinks were the perfect ending to a perfect night! A special thank you goes out to the Moore's from all of us here at Kidz Konnect!

This week is Gamez-N-Fun with Mr. Steve, Mr. Rich and Mrs. Cathy... what fun!!! Aren't Game Night's just the best??? Hopefully, the rain will stay away tonight for outdoor games otherwise, we'll simply stay and enjoy a great time indoors! MANY MANY thanks in advance to this wonderful 'crew' of adults for planning such a neat Spring-time activity for us!

It's already time to pull April Fool's prank jokes on your friends and family! We have a very fun evening planned for Kidz Konnect this week... just in time for April Fool's! We're going to celebrate "NERD-STYLE"!!! Please wear the nerdiest outfit you can muster up and we'll see who is the biggest "NERD" of the bunch and that person (or persons) will receive a prize. This will also be our monthly Movie Night and we'll be watching an Easter themed film. Please DO NOT miss out on the chance to receive a prize and see a great movie at the same time!

We want to take a moment to thank each and every person or couple who have given of their time and effort to make our Kidz Konnect so fun this year! Connection Between the Shamrock and the Trinity???

Legend has it that St. Patrick was responsible for ridding the Emerald Isle of snakes; but more importantly, it is said that Patrick used the shamrock as a symbol to explain the Trinity to Unbelievers, i.e., how God is One God in Three Persons. "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost" (Matthew 28:19). Patrick would hold up a shamrock and challenge his hearers, "Is it one leaf or three?" "It is both one leaf and three," was their reply. "And so it is with God," he would conclude. "19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them. 20 For the invisible things of Him from The Creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His Eternal Power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse" (Romans 1:19-20). Of course, doctrines such as the Trinity or the Divinity of Jesus Christ can only be received by willing hearts, who have committed themselves to obey whatever the Spirit reveals from the Scriptures. "If any man will do His will, he shall know of the doctrine" (John 7:17). St. Patrick, no doubt, was careful not to confuse pagan idolaters with the idea of Polytheism, i.e., the false notion that there are many separate gods; but, his dependence upon the Holy Spirit to give him the illustration of the shamrock to illustrate the Trinity, gave him success in preaching the Gospel. "For I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ: for it is the Power of God unto Salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek" (Romans 1:16).

This was a perfect Holiday to decide to have a PaRtY and that's just what we did at Kidz Konnect this past Wednesday! We ate Irish themed snacks, handmade a set of Shamrock napkin rings for our families at home and played Musical Chairs to the tunes of Ireland! Thanks to everyone who took part... adult and child alike! An EXTRA Thank You to Mrs. Mari for all of her hard work putting the craft together! We hope you enjoy your clover plant, Mrs. Mari!

'Irish' YOU ALL a very Happy St. Patrick's Day!!! A quote was found in print the other day, that made us realize ALL children MUST be Irish ~ "When Irish eyes are smiling, they're usually up to something". With that, there is no need to say more!

Movie Night - "The Gladys Aylward Story"

This past Wednesday, Mrs. Shelly was under the weather, but Mr. Greg joined the kids and they enjoyed a great 'Christian Movie Night' together. "The Gladys Aylward Story" was the 'featured film' of the evening. Here is a brief overview of the movie.
With war raging about her and soldiers closing in, the wounded missionary Gladys Aylward (as portrayed in the movie, The Inn of the Sixth Happiness), set out on the most difficult journey of her life - a 100-mile trek over the mountains to a safe haven. But, it's not her own safety that concerned this little woman with big faith. It was the safety and well being of the 100 orphaned children in her care. As we watched, Gladys' strength and faith was stretched to the limit, all for the sake of those little children.

This particular movie was from the Torchlighters DVD Series, which are stuffed full of animated programs for youth ages 6-12 and present the lives of true-life heroes from Christian history. When children see what God can do through a "Torchlighter" who is devoted to carrying out His will and purposes, they too may want to carry a torch of faith by serving Him. Following the movie, we were all treated to Popcorn and Punch. Thanks, Mr. Greg for taking over and giving of your time... You're one of a kind!!!

So Much to Learn About the Bible...

...and who is better at telling us about God's Word than Mr. David and Mrs. Amelia?! Did we ever enjoy our time with them last night, too! It's always fun to learn about the Bible and the different stories found there! Mr. David and Mrs. Amelia also brought Table Games for us, (which we ALWAYS love), to play with following our "Bible Story Night" ! Afterwards, Mrs. Doris provided Cookies and Ice Cream Cups for us. A special thanks to her for helping to 'fill us up' before we headed home for bed! All in all, another FUN night at Kidz Konnect and now we just can't wait to see what's up for next week!!! Bienvenidos a Mexico...

...Welcome to Mexico!
This was how the children were greeted last night at Kidz Konnect. Mrs. Heather and Mr. Matt had an incredible evening of Spanish-flavored fun planned and the kids would like to say a very special, "Muchas Gracias" (Thank You), to both Mrs. Heather and Mr. Matt for a great time! Even though, Mr. Matt was 'called out' at the last minute to preach for the Prayer/Praise service, Mrs. Heather went through with their plans and it was "así que clase de ella" (so kind of her)!

This was our first 'Vision of Mission Kidz Konnect Talks' for the season, there are a couple more of these type sessions planned in the next few months and believe us, YOU don't want to miss ONE of them!!! Last night, we learned many fun facts about the country of Mexico and it's surrounding areas, played games that the children of Mexico play, ate Tortilla Chips with Salsa, we tried it all... EXCEPT the Fiesta (nap) and we didn't have ANYTHING to do with that! LOL

Next week, we have another fun and exciting evening planned for you, so PLEASE do NOT skip out and remember to BRING YOUR FRIENDS with you! We also have ANOTHER Party Night on schedule in March and will be posting more information very soon for you to see! Happy Valentine's Week

Kidz Konnect held their annual Valentine Party last night, Wednesday, February 11th! We had an incredible evening! The menu consisted of Deli-Style Pizza, an assortment of Chips and a variety of Cold Drinks. The children had a wild and roaring time, especially when Mrs. Doris showed them her "Pizza Clown Duo" Cut-Out, which she had brought in for a special photo op. They also each had a Valentine Card to fill out for someone special. After an exciting and quite loud game of "Floor Bingo", each child left the party, with a handful of Valentine Candy and a Heart Cookie in their hand with a promise to come back and see what was to happen at Southside this coming Sunday.

A GREAT BIG HUGE Thank You to every adult who helped before, during and after the Party to make it such a raging success.......... we couldn't have made it without Y-O-U!!!

The First Movie Night of 2009

Last night we all gathered with heart-shaped chocolate cupcakes from 'Little Debbie' and curious minds to watch our First Movie of 2009. We have Christian "Movie Nights" scheduled once per month through May. Along with other once a month adventures such as, "Kidz Konnect Kaleidoscope of Fun Nights" (which include everything from Kidz Konnect Vision of Misssion Talks to Kidz Konnect Kraft Nights) with a Party Night thrown in from time to time!
For our first Movie Night of this year, we chose Max Lucado's Hermie & Friends: "To Share or NUT to Share" (By Max Lucado)

From the series that brought us the #1 DVD/Video of 2005 in Christian retail, this particular one is a fun story about sharing with one another, from a Biblical standpoint. Here is a brief overview of "To Share or NUT to Share":
The "garden" literally goes 'nuts' when a shortage of nuts causes panic, especially with the Garden Talent Show & Tell starting the next day. And wouldn't you know it --- everyone's talent involves a NUT. With only one nut left in the entire garden, friends turn into enemies as it's a mad dash to see who grabs the last, elusive nut. To remain friends and to save the show, the bugs must learn to share. What a great lesson was learned by us all!

HEY, KIDS!!! Remember, our annual Valentine Party is on schedule for this coming Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m. Please bring your friends for a fun time together. Don't forget to tell someone you LOVE them during this Season of Valentine-Love, too!!!

A Bit of A Blizzard?

Well, as you're now aware our "Kidz Konnect Kaleidoscope of Fun", planned for last night was cancelled due to the BIG snowstorm that hit Indy yesterday!We will put it back on our calendar in late summer, though.
Weather permitting, we will begin a NEW Kidz Konnect schedule next Wednesday night, which will carry out until the end of May. We will then 'open' King's Kidz Klub for the rest of the summer. (Every Wednesday at 7PM) Beginning again in September we will close the 'Klub' to hold our Kidz Konnect meetings each Wednesday evening.
Being as most of you are out of school for snow days, we know you're having lots of fun sledding, skating, etc. but, be sure to stay safe! Dress warm, take your vitamins and drink plenty of warm fluids!
We HOPE to see you at Church on Sunday... that is as long as Indy doesn't get 'hit' with more of this white stuff!!! Take care.

"Southside's Super Servant" Night Was a Great Success!

A special thank you to every child and adult who helped with our "Southside's Super Servant" Night, last evening! It was a great success... with over 90 people in attendance. (We missed the Teen Dept. being with us because they had a prior engagement... maybe next time, guys!?)
Our 'chat' for the evening (AKA 'lesson'), talked about ways to become a servant to others, just as Jesus was and then in turn, we 'served' many of the congregation a special dessert following the regular Wednesday night activities. We made an assembly line and 'created' individual desserts made of cherry cake doughnuts, whipped cream, chocolate syrup, rainbow sprinkles and each one was topped with a cherry! YUMMY! The children enjoyed serving the adults and there's not much doubt, that the adults had fun being 'served'... for a change!
Thanks, again to everyone who took part and we're looking forward to next weeks activity, "Kidz Konnect Kaleidoscope of Fun", with Mrs. Mari.

Remember, our Valentine Party is coming up on Wednesday, February 11th (7pm) and kids, please let your parents know that we are in search of adult volunteers to aide in 'security' for the event.

Due to the weather conditions, our Wednesday evening activities were called off. Kidz Konnect was to host "Southide's Super Servant" Night, that evening. We have post-poned this particular event for two weeks... making the date, Wednesday the 28th.

Next week, weather permitting, Mrs. Mari has an exciting night planned for us and you'll NOT want to miss it!!! As usual, it begins at 7p.m.

Looking ahead, Mrs. Shelly and Mrs. Kathy are preparing for the 2009 Kidz Konnect Valentine Party. It is scheduled for Wednesday, February 11th, also at 7p.m.

"Christmas Eve at Hope Haven" Review

The Children's program, "Christmas Eve at Hope Haven", went well this past Sunday, though it was a bit stressful for the adults involved getting to that point, the kids did a very fine job and Mr. Greg, Mrs. Shelly, Mrs. Kathy, Mrs. Doris and Mrs. Janice were all very proud of them!

Now, we'd like each of you to ask your family members who were there and took pictures, to share them with us! We'd love to post pictures online for all to see and we'll wait until we've collected as many as possible from anyone and everyone, to do so!!!! (The deadline for yours to be posted is Christmas Eve and you'll be able to view them before New Year's Day...)

Tonight, Wednesday (Dec. 10th), is our annual Christmas Movie Night and you'll not want to miss it!!! Next week, we'll meet for our annual Christmas Birthday Party for Jesus, on Wednesday the 17th at 7 PM... another event you'll not want to skip out on!!!

Fall Fest 2008 was a smashing success! Thanks to EVERYONE involved... We had Apple Bobbing, Caramel Dipping, Fishing in the Fish Pond, Tossing of Corn Bags, Painting of the Faces and oh so much more! We had seveal in costumes... everything from a French Poodle to Belle (from Beauty & the Beast) to A Newsie to John Lennon, etc. WHAT FUN!!! KIDS!!! Thank you to those of you who were able to join us in our 'costume' endeavor, it was a day we won't soon forget and we're excited for the next grand 100 years that lie ahead... even though we won't all be around to see them! heeheehee Have fun and we'll see YOU this week at Church!!!

The Big CELEBRATION is Only 1 Week Away...

We're only one week away from the International General Church of the Nazarene's 100th 'Birthday' CELEBRATION... October 5th will be here before you know it!!!

Remember to dress in 'Pioneer' clothes, have your 'Handbell-Hands' with you and be ready to open the Morning Service!

It's gonna be great and fun day... There will be a HUGE Balloon Launch, Surprise Guests, etc.! We'll have our final Handbell practice that morning at 10:00a.m. and EXPECT every one of you there!!!

Our Annual trip to the Indy Children's Museum is this coming THURSDAY!!!!! It's FREE and a Sack-Supper will be PROVIDED! Be there or be square! Remember to have your Permission Slip filled out by an adult and drop it off in the Church Office ASAP!

September 11th is a Day to Remember...

Please take a moment to say a silent prayer for all those who lost a family member in the 9/11 tragedy of 2001! Also, pray for the Military troops who are still to this day fighting for our freedom and safety! Continue to pray for the Presidential election that is coming up in November... YOU may be too young to vote, BUT be sure to remind your PARENTS and FAMILY members to get out there and vote! Only God and the many Christians praying around the country, (and casting their votes in the 'right' direction) can save America, from a great deal of heartache in the coming years!
Now, on to more exciting things... our annual trip to the Children's Museum is just around the corner, we will begin Wednesday night practice sessions for our Christmas Musical VERY soon, the annual Halloween Alternative isn't all that far away... In other words, there is many many many fun things in the future weeks that lie ahead, so be on the lookout because you'll NOT want to miss out!
Be sure to get out and enjoy the beautiful Fall weather... the air is filled with yummy smells like spicy pumpkins, baked apples and falling leaves... have an awesome time out there!!!

August is Half Over and There's Much Going On around Southside!!!

August almost over......... so soon?!?!?!? Though it's quite unbelievable that the Summer has slipped by so quickly, there's tons of stuff going on around Southside, meaning there is no reason to be down in spirit! Check these photos out and you'll get an idea of just a few of the Events that are underway!!! Such as, an All-Church picnic, Christmas Musical practice sessions, Annual Halloween Alternative, an early winter evening at the Children's Museum and OH SO MUCH MORE!!!
We've had a major answer to prayer in our Department! Mrs. Alberta has seen fit to take over the ministry of our "Wee Worship" service on Sunday mornings at 10:30 for those 3-5 yrs. of age. It's hard to believe it's already 'that' time, again!!! Each evening at 6:30 p.m., during the week of July 21-25 is V.B.S. 2008 at Southside! We will then have our Final Program on Sunday Morning the 27th at 10:00 a.m. We're looking forward to an awesome week with Mrs. Doris and her Staff! There'll be songs, stories, crafts, prizes, lessons, food and TONS of fun! All KIDS that have been in Kindergarten (or in a classroom setting) through the 6th Grade are invited. You will NOT want to miss one single evening or the final Program, either! There will be Gift Cards given on Sunday Morning, from Berean Christian Bookstore, to the child/children who have brought a friend to V.B.S. every night and we prefer you to bring a DIFFERENT friend each time! A Summer as Busy as Bee's at Southside...

We're in the middle of a very busy Summer here at Southside... buzzing around like bee's without a honeycomb!!!

We're looking forward to an awesome V.B.S., during the week of July 21-25, with a brief Ceremony on the 27th. (Beginning next year, we will begin a new tradition at Southside... we will have 'Kidz Krusade'/'Family Kamp' services each evening Monday-Friday, with a Ceremony on either Friday evening or Saturday afternoon, depending on the Crusade Ministry Team each year.) Whether it's V.B.S. or Kidz Krusade, it's a very exciting time that NO ONE will want to miss out on!!!

Be watching for more details on our Kidz Konnect upcoming "Bible Story Nite", Day Trip to the "Children's Museum", the District Children's "Back-to-School Bash at Camp Camby", etc., etc., etc. We have many wonderful events planned and we want you to be aware and plan ahead for each of them!

Summer 2008 Has Officially Arrived at Southside...

This past Sunday, June 8th was our first major Summer Event... "Baby Day/Children's Day 2008"... and it was a raging success! Thank you to each person that assisted, whether behind the scenes or on the platform during the service! Without YOU, this day, wouldn't have been the success that it was... THANK YOU!!!

The theme of the day was, "God Made You Special". Mrs. Janice did a fantastic job being the "MC", Mrs. Trisha and Mr. Larry had a pretty little table set up for the "MC" and did almost ALL of the errand running for the day... buying gifts, etc. I could go on and on with those that helped but, I'm sure to miss someone if I try... Please just accept our thanks for a job MORE than well done!!!

The Baby Day "Parade" was adorable, each and every baby/toddler looked precious and did a great job... not a tear in the bunch!!! They each received a Photo Album to take home and we can't wait to see them again next year!

The Jr. Worship aged Children each received a token to remind them how "Special" they are to God... Mrs. Doris and her Staff also presented them with a yummy lunch after the Service followed with Games to boot! Thank You, Ladies (and Mr. Rich, too!), for a wonderful time together!!!

NOW, on to more UPCOMING Events that we are looking forward to here at Southside!

King's Kidz Klub is up and running for the Summer and it's turning out to be very interesting! A week ago, (June 4th), we had "Karaoke Nite" and BOY was it ever fun! We have quite a bit of talent in these kids!!! Good job, guys and gals! This coming Wednesday night (June 18th) is "Kidz Kraft Nite" at King's Kidz Klub with Mrs. Mari and her Staff... PLEASE bring a friend and be ready for some FUN!!! Last night (June 11th), we had "Free-for-All-Time" outdoors, with myself, Mr. Greg and Mrs. Kathy... it was the perfect night for it, too... the weather was beautiful, sunny, gentle winds, etc.!

HEY KIDS... REMEMBER THIS SUNDAY IS "FATHER'S DAY"... DO SOMETHING REALLY REALLY REALLY SPECIAL FOR YOUR DAD THIS WEEK!!!

Our annual "Baby Day 2008 Parade" is Sunday, June 8th at 10:30A.M.
ADULTS: If you are the parents, grandparents (or know of someone close to you) of a child in the Newborn through 2 years of age bracket... PLEASE REGISTER EACH CHILD(REN) IN THE CHURCH FOYER - BEFORE SUNDAY SCHOOL - PREFERABLY AT 9A.M. FOR THIS PARADE!!!
Each baby (0-2 yrs.) that participates in the Parade, will also be given a special gift from the Kidz Konnect Department, during the Morning Worship Service.
Our annual "Children's Day 2008" is Sunday, June 8th at 10:30 A.M.
KIDS AND ADULTS: All children, over 2 years of age and under 13 years of age, attending the Service this Sunday Morning, June 8th will join Mrs. Doris in a choral number to open the Morning Worship. Each child will also be given a small token of love, from the Kidz Konnect Department, following the Service.

Jumpin' Jehoshaphat - Praise Works!!!

While doing a little research online, I found the Story below and thought it would be neat to post a Bible Story, instead of a BLOG for a change!
If you're ever in doubt that God is there to help you when you need it... just remember this Story and you'll never doubt, again!

"Jumpin' Jehoshaphat - Praise Works!!!"

Based on 2 Chronicles 20:1-30

Jehoshaphat, who was ruler of Judah, was an awesome king. He knew the importance of making God first in his life and in the lives of his people. From the very beginning, he began removing all those silly idol shrines throughout the country. He knew that no god made out of rock or wood could help his people. He urged them all to turn their attention to the one true God. Only God could really help his people. And his efforts paid off in a very big way. During his reign, their faith was put to the test when three great armies came against them. When word of the invasion reached Jehoshaphat, he immediately declared a fast for all of Judah. He commanded everyone, young and old, to gather at Jerusalem to seek an answer from the Lord. Jehoshaphat stood among the crowd that gathered and prayed, "O God of our fathers, You are above every other kingdom. You led us out of Egypt and drove out all the inhabitants of this land before us. When we have faced trouble, You have delivered us. Now, the people of Ammon, Moab and Mount Seir are coming against Your people. These are the same nations that You prevented us from destroying when we left Egypt. We have no strength to face this vast army, but we know You have a plan to deliver us!" And so all of Jerusalem waited patiently for the Lord to speak. And then the Spirit of the Lord spoke, through a Levite named Jahaziel who said, "Don't be afraid of this vast army because the battle is not yours, but Mine. Tomorrow, march down to meet them, for I will be with you. You will not fight this battle. You will stand still and see My salvation." And then Jehoshaphat and all of Jerusalem bowed to the ground worshiping the Lord. And the Levites stood up and praised the Lord. The next morning they got up early and prepared to march out to meet the invaders. Jehoshaphat addressed the army, "Listen to me Judah and residents of Jerusalem; Trust in the Lord your God and you will never fail. Believe His prophets and you will always prosper!" He then appointed a choir to march before the army and praise God. As they marched they sang, "Praise the Lord, for His mercy lasts forever!" And as soon as they began praising God, confusion erupted in the invaders' camps. Two of the armies turned on the other and destroyed it. Then, they turned on each other until every soldier was killed. When Jehoshaphat's army reached a hill overlooking the invaders' camps, there was nothing but dead soldiers as far as they could see. None had escaped. Jehoshaphat's army sacked the enemies' camp and found precious jewels, clothes, weapons, animals and food in abundance. It took them three days to remove all the loot. On the fourth day they gathered in the valley and praised the Lord for the great victory. They returned to Jerusalem with joy, playing trumpets and harps in celebration. The rest of Jehoshaphat's reign was very peaceful. All the nearby countries heard how God had fought for Judah. They knew that any attack on Judah was an attack on God, and no man can fight against the one true God.

A One-Day Road Trip for Mrs. Shelly and Family

Bored ALREADY and Summer's Only Just Begun!!!

You're already bored and Summer's just beginning??? Well, here are a few tips and tricks to get you right out of your BOREDOM!!! (Click on the pic below for your 'freedom from boredom'...)

Summer Freedom from Boredom!

Dig for Buried Treasures:
To start, ask your parents for permission to go through your house and gather some trinkets or toys, you don’t mind burying. Next, put together a treasure-finding tool kit that includes a hand shovel, an old paintbrush (to clean off unearthed treasures), Ziploc bags (to contain what's found) and a map showing the 'Searcher' where to start the search. Then, either bury the treasures in your garden/yard (placing them in an area without plants is a good idea) or in a large bucket filled with dirt from your backyard.
Now, it's time to have your friends or even you yourself, scavenge for treasures! For an extra bit of fun, you can label your "finds" with made-up names and place them in a “museum” (or on a serving platter) to share with your family and any visitors/guests that come to your house during the week.
Why do stars twinkle? Or, Where did the moon go? Or, Is Mars further away from Pluto? How about, How can I get to Venus? Are there aliens there? Okay, while we don’t have all the answers, we do have some ideas to get you started... Checking out the dreamy night sky is as easy as grabbing a flashlight, finding a spot on the grass and looking up. Here are some star gazing tips, including activities, to make your exploration a success.
Star Facts:
What is a star?A star is a big ball of gas that changes color and size over billions of years. On any given night, up to two thousand stars light up the sky – each one unique in shape and form. You can see stars best on a clear night in a dark spot, away from bright lights.
You can also see a star during the day. The sun is the brightest and biggest star in our universe—and probably the one that kids are most familiar with. This five-billion-year-old star is easy to spot, which makes it a great place to begin when learning about star gazing.
If you’re an early riser, watch the sun rise in the east. The whole process takes about a half hour, with lots of cool colors and a first look at the gradual transformation from night to day.
If you’re more of a night owl, the sun sets in the west so you can watch the reverse process together when the sun goes down.
Here is a YUMMY summer drink for you to make for yourself right at home:
"Lime Rickey's" are a cool and refreshing way to quench your thirst, but you can also change the flavor of this recipe simply by blending your favorite flavored syrups.
Ingredients:
1 lime, quartered
8 fluid ounces carbonated water
1 (1.5 fluid ounce) jigger raspberry syrup
Cooking Instructions:
Fill a tall glass with ice. Squeeze each of the lime wedges into glass, and drop in. Fill glass nearly to the top with carbonated water, and top with raspberry syrup.
Preparation Time: 2 min. Cooking Time: 0 Ready In: 2 min. Servings: 1
Maybe you're a little more hungry than thirsty? Here's a quick little snack you can make for yourself:
"Edible Rocket's" are a great way to blast off to space and a very delicious treat, too!
What you need:
- 4 baby carrots
- 1 apple
- Paring knife
- 1 banana
- 1 large plate
Instructions:
1. Peel and cut the banana in half and place it in the middle of your plate. The banana will be the body of your rocket. 2. Parent Alert: Use the paring knife to cut a few apple wedges to place below the body of your rocket. The apples will be your rocket fire. 3. Put two baby carrots on each side of the banana. The carrots will be the wings of the rocket. 4. Once you have all the pieces in place, you’re ready for lift off so dig in!

MOTHER: A word that means the world to me…

Full-time Mother’s don't get weekends off, sick time or vacation days and they work 24/7, 365 days a week. However, Mother’s do get bonuses and one such bonus is a day in their ‘honor’, Mother's Day. This special day may be celebrated on different days of the year, in different countries, but in all countries it has one thing in common... And that is to honor Mother’s or the memory of a Mother.
One the best ways to celebrate Mother’s Day is to give your own Mother the day off. Let her take it easy and relax while the rest of the family does the work. Maybe you could begin the day with breakfast in bed. (Yummy… sounds pretty good to me!) You and Dad could let your her sleep in late while the two of you slip into the kitchen and prepare her favorite meal. A Mother's Day breakfast can consist of anything she likes. (Even if it’s just toast with PB and coffee or waffles with fruit and juice!!!) Place the food nicely on a tray… (don't forget a vase with a single flower.) Then, carry the tray up to her bedroom… cards and small presents can also be placed on the tray, as well. Another good idea to make the day even more special is to cook up a nice meal at home later in the day or take her out to her favorite Restaurant. Mother's Day is a great day to let that 'special lady' at your house relax and see what a wonderful family she has been blessed with.
Dallas Holm, a long time singer/songwriter (of such songs as “Rise Again“ and “Jesus Got Ahold of My Life”), has been called everything from a Christian Music Pioneer to a Legend and an Icon. For Mother's Day 2008, Dallas shared this, one of his biggest fans is his Mother. Dallas said, "Mom was and remains one of my biggest fans... She and Dad bought my brother and I our first guitars and encouraged us on our musical journey. She is a wise and funny woman who continues to be a source of inspiration and guidance to me." When asked how he has managed to still be a husband and a dad while being on the road for so many years, Dallas replied, "In the years I have toured and throughout all of my ministry, I’ve always had a priority system that put God first, family second and ministry third.”
A Prayer for Mother's Day:
"Dear Jesus, We thank You for adopting us into your family through the miracle of Your grace, and for calling us to be brothers and sisters to each other. Today, loving God, we pray for our mothers: who cared for us when we were helpless, who comforted us when we were hurt, whose love and care we often take for granted. Today we also pray for those who are grieving the loss of their mother, those who never knew their biological mother and may even now yearn for her, those who have experienced the wonder of an adopted mother's love and the many families separated by war or conflict. Lord, give them each a special blessing from You, today. Keep us united with You and with each other, so that we can be and become all that we are meant to be. Amen."

"May Day" (May 1st) is celebrated in many places around the world. The traditions and stories surrounding "May Day" vary from place to place.

There is, however, one thing that is similar

in most celebrations - the use of Flowers Flowers Flowers!

One of the most popularly known "May Day" traditions is to hang a basket full of spring flowers and/or other small gifts on a neighbor's doorknob.

The trick is you don't want the neighbor to see you!

If you get caught - you are supposed to get a kiss.

It's Thursday Again and Here We Are!

Well, it's Thursday again and here we are... though not back in the "office" as of yet, we're HERE and ONLINE once more!!!
The move to our new home went smoothly and BOY are we are so happy it's over! Even though there is still MUCH left to do like more unpacking, decorating and stuff, the actual MOVING part is done and over with for the most part! YAY!!! It sure was an interesting time trying to pack, move and unpack with little Baby Aly around but, she did really well and we're all happy to be "HOME", now!
The only NEW announcement at Church is just a REMINDER that we're in Revival this week... YOU'LL NOT WANT TO MISS IT! Wednesday-Saturday Night the services begin at 7PM and Sunday services are at the regular times of 9:30AM - Bible Class/Sunday School, 10:30AM - Morning Worship and our Praise Celebration service at 6:00PM. The Speaker at every service is a man named Rev. Russel Coffee and he's AWESOME!!! We hope to see you there.

Mr. Greg and Mrs. Shelly are in the process of moving across town this week (and for several weeks to follow...).
Thus, no BLOG posted this past Thursday (4/10) nor this coming Thursday (4/17), they are taking a little VACATION with the week off for packing and moving!

Today is April Fool's Day! NO JOKE!!!
April Fool’s is celebrated annually on the first day of April. It is a time for the traditional playing of pranks upon unsuspecting people... the victim of such a prank being called an ‘April Fool‘.
The origins of this custom are somewhat uncertain, but may have initially been related to the arrival of Spring in late March, at which time Mother Nature is said to "fool" the human race with sudden and fickle changes in the weather... showers one minute and sunshine the next.
Otherwise, the modern day pranks of April Fool’s tend to center more around bogus telephone calls and media-driven foolery. In sum, April Fool's Day is a for-fun-only observance... a time when nobody is expected to buy gifts, receive cards or spend money and there are no vacations from work or school. The primary force behind April Fool's Day are the jokes and pranks that should not be harmful to anyone, but able to be enjoyed by everyone... especially the person upon whom the joke is played!
So, Happy April Fool’s Day to you - have you tricked anyone today, yet???

April is almost HERE... Spring will be gone before we know it and Summer will take it's place!!! It won't be long before you'll be out of school and having fun in the sun!!! I know that we here at Southside are looking forward to the next few weeks... Remember to stay dry and enjoy the "birth" of Spring!!!

Due to a death in Church Staff Family, we didn't post a BLOG on this past Thursday, as usual. At any rate, all the same announcements hold true to date...

Spring is such an exciting time! Things begin to grow and the world becomes colorful again after a long cold and dreary winter! The beauty God created can be seen ALL AROUND YOU! We, at Southside Kidz, trust you'll have a wonderful Easter and a great Spingtime, too! God is good - if you ever doubt it, just look around at His handiwork and praise Him for His many blessings!!!

We look forward to a VERY interesting time together, exploring some of the talents God has given us and of course, there will be some funny moments, too! After all, that's part of why "Karaoke" is such fun!!!

King's Kidz Klub (5-12 yrs.) will be having our monthly Kidz Kraft Night with Mrs. Mari and Staff, this next Wednesday night, March 19th

King's Kidz Klub will host our first ever "Karaoke Night", with Mr. Mark and Staff, Wednesday evening, March 26th. We will have a FEW of our CD's for you to choose from OR you may bring your own. (Remember, it must be christian, patriotic or classical!)

King's Kidz Klub will celebrate 'Missions' with Mrs. Bonnie and Staff, on Wednesday evening, April 16th

Kidz Konnect of Southside (0-12 yrs.) is planning a HUGE surprise for all children present on Easter Sunday morning - - - YOU DON'T WANT TO MISS IT!!!

Due to the fact, that we've been hit with a late Winter Storm, the District Children's Talent Faire has been postponed for this weekend! It will be rescheduled later in the Spring. We'll keep you up to date as the time gets closer. (The reason this was not posted any earlier is because of a computer 'breakdown'! We apologize!)

It's hard to believe that we're already in the last week of February! March is upon us!!!

There have been a couple of changes on our 'Kidz Konnect' (the Wednesday night children's program) schedule. We usually have our Video Nite on the first Wednesday of each month. HOWEVER, the Video Nite for March will actually take place THIS week, Wednesday the 27th (February)! The "Show-N-Tell" that was planned for that night will now take place on Wednesday the 5th (March)! We hope to see all of YOU at both of these events!

Kidz, we want to remind you that the District Talent Faire is on Friday, March 7th!!!!!!! Just a few days away! We hope you're in the middle of 'crash-prepping' for a BIG time that evening! It's sure to be fun for us all! PLEASE TELL MRS. SHELLY OR MRS. DORIS TODAY WHAT YOU WILL BE ENTERING IN! IT'S IMPORTANT THAT WE KNOW RIGHT NOW WHAT YOUR PLANS ARE! REMEMBER THAT EVERYONE OF YOU ARE TO BE A PART OF 'SS KIDZ SINGERS' - PLEASE BE AT PRACTICE 10:30a.m. THIS SUNDAY MORNING! If you have questions about the rules, regulations, etc. for your entry, please refer to the wall display outside Mrs. Shelly's office NOW! Also, we wanted to inform you that due to the fact that Easter is coming VERY early in the season this year (March 23, 2008) , we will not have our visit with the Easter Bunny, nor will we host our Annual Easter Egg Hunt on the Saturday prior to Easter.
